Requirements
Problem Statement
Design and build a community focused solution (web, app, or tool) that addresses a real-world problem using open data. Example themes: digital wellness, smart cities, resource accessibility, community improvement, or social impact.
Datasets Provided + Context
Below are recommended Kaggle datasets suitable for hackathons:
- Titanic Survival Prediction (classic beginner dataset to predict outcomes from structured data.
- House Price Prediction (regression task using real estate data; great for intermediate skills)
- MNIST Digit Recognition (image data; foundation for computer vision projects)
- Restaurant Orders and Delivery (customer analytics, order tracking for business/finance or food delivery app ideas)
- Superstore Sales or BigBasket Customer Analytics (business intelligence, forecasting, or recommendation systems)
- Global Crocodile Species Dataset (use for biodiversity, mapping, or environmental applications)
- GitHub Archive Events (community, code analytics, or open-source health)
- Football Results (sports analytics, score prediction, or fan engagement tools)
- US Census Data
- Pick your own!

Context: All datasets are open-source, cleaned, and well-documented for rapid project starts. Full dataset links and task examples will be shared in the hackathon package.
Judging Criteria
Innovation & Impact (30%)
Technical Execution (30%)
Use of Data (20%)
Presentation & Documentation (10%)
Practical Feasibility (10%)
Example Project Walkthrough:
- Dataset: Titanic Survival
- Problem: Create a museum installation to predict if a passenger would survive the Titanic based on viewers input.
- Steps: Import data, explore, preprocess, train a classification model, deploy demo (web or notebook), create a UI, create a presentation summary.
Submission Requirements / Format:
Project demo URL (app, notebook, or video—3-5 minutes)
Name and emails of all team members.
Repository link (GitHub, GitLab, etc.)
1-slide summary or infographic (optional)
Documentation: problem tackled, method used, dataset and feature use, results, and next steps.
Please add the tech stack you are using and the story you're telling through your project.
