Requirements

Problem Statement

Design and build a community focused solution (web, app, or tool) that addresses a real-world problem using open data. Example themes: digital wellness, smart cities, resource accessibility, community improvement, or social impact.

Datasets Provided + Context

Below are recommended Kaggle datasets suitable for hackathons:

  • Titanic Survival Prediction (classic beginner dataset to predict outcomes from structured data.
  • House Price Prediction (regression task using real estate data; great for intermediate skills)
  • MNIST Digit Recognition (image data; foundation for computer vision projects)
  • Restaurant Orders and Delivery (customer analytics, order tracking for business/finance or food delivery app ideas)
  • Superstore Sales or BigBasket Customer Analytics (business intelligence, forecasting, or recommendation systems)
  • Global Crocodile Species Dataset (use for biodiversity, mapping, or environmental applications)
  • GitHub Archive Events (community, code analytics, or open-source health)
  • Football Results (sports analytics, score prediction, or fan engagement tools)
  • US Census Data
  • Pick your own!
